BETTER UNDERSTANING OF CONDITION RATINGS
1- NEEDS SIGNIFICANT REPAIRS
A one rating reflects a vehicle that has major mechanical issues AND major cosmetic/structural issues. Some of these issues might be engine noise, transmission issues, knocking engine, wrecked, frame or structural damage, airbags deployed, glass broken or other items. It will be assumed this vehicle does run but is not repairable and that WPYM will dispose of it and not recondition it or sell to a retail consumer.
2 - POOR
A two rating reflects a vehicle that has major mechanical OR cosmetic issues, but probably not both – or a combination of minor / major mechanical and cosmetic issues. Some of these might include torn or stained interior, non-functioning heat and/or air conditioning, bald tires, large dents and dings, cracked glass, etc. It will be assumed that this vehicle runs but will not be reconditioned and WPYM will dispose of or disassemble for use of parts.
3 - NOT SO GOOD
A three rating reflects a vehicle that has reasonably repairable mechanical issues (new sensors, indicator lights, belts, hoses, etc.) This vehicle will also be expected to have some repairable cosmetic issues (painting bumpers, potentially 1 or 2 body panels, light body work, etc.). It will be assumed that this vehicle runs and drives and could potentially be repaired well enough to sell to a retail consumer.
4 - BELOW AVERAGE
A four rating reflects a vehicle that we’d consider to not have significant damage, but have cumulative repairs needed that we’d need to do to make it ready to sell to a retail consumer. Examples might be indicator light, tires, windshield, major interior detail, etc. We’d assume that this vehicle could be repaired and sold.
5 - AVERAGE
A five rating reflects a vehicle that is slightly below average condition for the years and miles it has, but is still being driven daily and does not need any significant repairs. Some items we’ll assume it might need are tires, detail or minor paint touch up. We’d expect that this vehicle will be a good product for a retail consumer, but on the value side.
6 - GOOD
A six rating reflects a vehicle that is in average condition for the year and miles it has. Some minor cosmetic blemishes will be expected as well as some reasonable wear on tires and interior – but should be easy to recondition and ready for the retail consumer.
7 - VERY GOOD
A seven rating reflects a vehicle in good condition, with no paint blemishes and only minor cosmetic issues, as well as good condition mechanically and easily reconditioned and cleaned for a retail consumer.
8 - REALLY GREAT
An eight rating reflects a vehicle that is in very good condition and has lower than average miles for it’s year. It will be free of all exterior and interior blemishes, no stains, dents, dings and have tires above 50% tread life. Paint will be shiny and have no dull areas and will be up to date on maintenance and ready to sell to a retail consumer.
9 - LIKE NEW
A nine rating is a vehicle in excellent condition that does not need any repairs. It will have tires above 75% tread life, clean paint, clean interior, have low mileage for it’s year and be in demand and ready to sell to a retail consumer.
10 - MINT CONDITION
A ten condition reflects a very rare vehicle that is like new and very low miles, It will be in remarkable condition for it’s year and be in high demand. It will need nothing and be current on all maintenance and ready to sell to a retail consumer.
